NYPPBA Raising Funds for the Legal Defense of New York City Pet Retailers.
New York City Council recently passed Ordinance 55-A placing unconstitutional sourcing restrictions on New York City’s licensed and inspected pet retailers. This NYC ordinance covers all 5 boroughs of New York City. The newly formed New York Pet Welfare Association (NYPWA) has brought a Federal court action against NYC. The New York Professional Pet Breeders Association (NYPPBA) Is encouraging all members to donate puppies to New York City pet retailers who are then using the money to fund their Federal lawsuit. During the NYPPBA annual meeting on Mar. 24th, 2015 NYPWA Vice President Keith Dalessio addressed attendees as to the importance of the lawsuit and it’s national implications. The NYPPBA’s Board of Directors fully concurs with the NYPWA’s assessment. Similar lawsuits have also been brought forth in Phoenix, Arizona; Chicago, Illinois; Rhode Island; and southern Florida.
